“A Música nas Coleções do Paço dos Duques de Bragança” [Music in the Collections of the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza] is the first book in the collection Modos de Ver [Ways of Seeing], which explores the collection of the Paço dos Duques in Guimarães. Written by Eduardo Magalhães, the book presents fifteen musical instruments represented in seventeen pieces from the collection, such as tapestries, paintings, and furniture from the Paço, as well as looking at the music contained in a Chantbook. Using accessible and didactic language, the book is illustrated with 116 images, providing a new way of appreciating the Paço dos Duques collection.
“A Flora das Coleções do Paço dos Duques de Bragança” [Flora in the Collections of the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza], published a few months later, continues the Modos de Ver collection. Illustrated with 117 images and dedicated to flora, this book was written by Sasha Assis Lima and coordinated by Isabel Maria Fernandes. In both editorial projects, Design by OOF endeavored to balance the photographic reproductions of Paço’s works with the texts, captions, and footnotes, guaranteeing a rhythmic reading rich in complementary information.
Using accessible and didactic language, the books in this collection offer a new way of appreciating the Paço dos Duques collection, bringing together different disciplines with the works of art. The Modos de Ver collection is coordinated by Isabel Maria Fernandes, Director of the Paço dos Duques, Guimarães Castle and Alberto Sampaio Museum.
